This is his coming home outfit. (Notice the proficiency with the pacifier. Eli was sucking his thumb in the womb and had no problem figuring out the pacifier right away)
Grandpa Birney gets to hold Eli in the sun for a little bit. He's only slightly excited.
A quick little rest in Mommy's arms. He already knows the best places to be warm and safe!
Our family started when Scott and I met in New Orleans in 2006. We felt God had called both of us to go to the city to try and help where we could, and somehow we found love. Marriage in '07 has brought many expected and many unexpected challenges, but we have tried our best to persevere through the difficult times and relish the fun times.
Now as we welcome Elijah Khalil Birney to our little family, we are looking forward to all the adventures that we will share over the rest of our lives. All the trips to see grandparents and aunts and uncles. and old friends. and new friends. All the ill-advised "projects" with dad and the cuddling with mom. But most of all, we are looking forward to watching as God reveals Himself to our son. As He teaches Elijah what it means to trust in God and rely on Him for all of his needs. As He leads all three of us to the places and the people that He is reaching out to. We are hopeful for His future for us, and await with anticipation the adventures that He has in store for us.
These pictures are adorable! Hope your arrival home is sweet and FULL of rest. Love. R
